SCORE and HP Host Free Workshop Series for Small Businesses

Washington, D.C.—SCORE “Counselors to America’s Small Business” and HP announce a new series of free workshops for small businesses, “For the Good of Your Business—Surviving Challenging Times.” Hosted in eight cities across the country, the workshops will provide essential advice on technology-based strategies that can help small business owners survive in tough economic times. For more information, visit www.score.org.

Together, HP and SCORE are providing key insights and simple solutions for protecting small businesses, saving money and increasing sales. Attendees will learn how to plan for disasters, leverage environmental strategies and manage in-house marketing for business longevity and success. The workshops also will offer tips on winning business contracts generated by the federal economic stimulus efforts, and advice on taking advantage of new SBA-backed financial options.

SCORE CEO Ken Yancey says, “HP continues to provide outstanding leadership and corporate support for small business mentoring and training through SCORE.” Yancey adds, “Thanks to HP, SCORE can continue to help prepare small businesses for disaster and build the economic strength of local communities.”

In addition to the workshops, HP will help provide more online resources and tools for small businesses at the SCORE Web site, www.score.org. HP is sponsoring a series of Webinars, podcasts, eGuides and business checklists as part of a new Web site section, “Technology and Tools for Every Stage of Your Business.” HP also will feature a monthly “Tech Tip” in SCORE eNews, which offers tips, trends and small business news to 100,000 subscribers each month.

“HP has a long history of supporting small businesses and offering customers solutions to help protect, manage and grow their business,” says Michael Nordstrom, SMB marketing manager, HP Personal Systems Group. “We are proud to work with SCORE to address the needs of small businesses, from disaster preparedness to managing technology, allowing them to focus on their craft and bottom line instead of worrying about the details of technology.”

SCORE experts can offer advice by email on disaster planning, environment, marketing and technology issues through Ask SCORE at www.score.org. Use the Find SCORE mapping tool to find a local SCORE office instantly for face-to-face mentoring at www.score.org.
