Dear Member:

The past months have been especially busy for your AFS Board of Directors. To encourage the continued growth and success of your association, we have been visiting AFS representatives and members across the nation. These meetings have allowed us to share the many things Americans for Financial Security is doing to help our members aspire, focus and succeed. We are working hard to improve and enhance your benefit package and to act as your watchdog on Capitol Hill.

Our monitoring efforts have recently focused on a new bill in the Senate that could make health care much more affordable for small-business owners. The Equity for our Nation’s Self-Employed Act of 2004, S. 2433, would allow the self-employed to fully deduct health coverage costs from their taxes. We urge you to contact your senators today and voice your support for this important bill. AFS will continue to track the progress of this legislation and keep you informed on the latest details.
